Crowns are dental restorations that anchor to the tooth itself, providing restorations in situations where tooth decay is too extensive for a filling. Commonly crowns are used to replace tooth surface lost during a root canal, as an achor tooth for partial dentures, or to improve the esthetics of a smile.
